Maxïmo Park veröffentlichen die neue Single „Great Art“ – die erste neue Musik seit dem Release des Albums „Nature Always Wins“ aus dem letzten Jahr, das über Prolifica erschien und u.a. auf Platz 2 der UK-Album-Charts landete.
„Great Art“ ist ein Song, der die Frustration über rechte und konservative Politik zum Ausdruck bringt, die Gemeinschaften und internationale Beziehungen dezimiert – und vor allem die Kunstwelt. Die Band hat ihre persönliche Haltung dabei immer klar vertreten und auch „Great Art“ ist eine weitere nachdenkliche und bissige Ergänzung zum Kanon des Maxïmo Park-Sounds. “Is this the great art you were hoping for / While the emotionally numb waged a quiet war? / Did you know it’s not the ‘80s anymore? / I’ve got a hundred new distractions banging at my door.“

The song is about the insidious nature of Conservative ideology, and a response to people who say, ‚at least we’ll get some great art out of it!’“, kommentiert Sänger Paul Smith die neue Single. “We’re excited to have new material to play alongside our other singles on the Sïngular tour (im Herbst in UK) – we’ve always written songs crammed full of hooks, so that’s our ideal medium in some ways.”
