„LFTBU“ ist nach „French Fever“ die nächste neue, explosive Single des in Auckland ansässigen Künstlers und Produzenten WHO SHOT SCOTT. Mit dreckigem Bass, dröhnenden Drums und einem schreienden Künstler, ist der Track ein Schlachtruf eines gemobbten Kindes, das sich weigert, aufzugeben.
„LFTBU“ ist eine Kollision aus Chaos und Katharsis und fängt den Moment ein, in dem Spott zu Motivation wird.
Über den Track sagt der Künstler:
“Being a young immigrant kid in New Zealand, I hardly fit the mould of what you would expect a rapper/musician to look like, yet something drew me strongly to creating and releasing music online. I thought (maybe naively) that doing so would help me connect with my peers – but in reality, it was quite the opposite. I copped a lot of heat for wanting to express myself – bullying, harassment, essentially becoming the schoolyard joke – yet I refused to let it stop me. If anything, it made me want it even more. Those years taught me a level of resilience that I’m extremely grateful for. I think that, fundamentally, it’s why I’m all about taking things that were used against me and turning them into superpowers. That’s essentially what this track means to me.
One of my favourite lines is, ‘music industry never could shake me, what’s a comment to “Let’s fuck this bitch up”?’ It perfectly encapsulates the essence – yes, this industry can be really tough to navigate at times, but then I think about some of the trauma I’ve endured, and especially what the generations above me in my family have endured, and I realise this music industry truly is a walk in the park in comparison.”
Die Single wird von einem filmreifen Video begleitet, das von Connor Pritchard gedreht wurde und in dem WSS inmitten einer Menge auftritt, die auf ihn zeigt und ihn auslacht. Eine visuelle Metapher dafür, wie man Spot in Antriebskraft verwandelt. Während das Chaos zunimmt wird klar: Die Negativität der anderen treibt nur noch weiter an.
„LFTBU“ ist einer der prägendsten Titel im Repertoire von WHO SHOT SCOTT: furchtlos, verletzlich und völlig ungezügelt. Ein Statement eines Künstlers, der sich weigert, die Wahrheit zu verwässern.
