Justice mit neuem Video!

Das neue Musikvideo von Justice, die mit ihrem aktuellem Album „Woman Worldwide“ für einen Grammy nominiert wurden!

Revered music icons Justice have garnered a Grammy nomination in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category for their recently released Woman Worldwide. The album was the result of Justice discovering new dimensions in their songs via the changes they underwent over the past several years of touring. In lieu of a live album, the duo made the choice to record revitalized versions of the songs in their studio in Paris, to give them the polish and precision that live performance doesn’t always allow. The album and subsequent nomination fittingly act as a celebration of the duo’s trailblazing campaign. Indeed, it won’t be their first appearance at the Grammys – the duo won an award in 2009 for their remix of MGMT.

Hot on the heels of their Grammy-nomination, Justice have shared an inspiring video for “Heavy Metal” from Woman Worldwide. Directed by Filip Nilsson, the video stars the award-winning Norfolk State University Spartan Legion marching band, based in Virginia USA, which consists of over 200 staff and student musicians, dancers, and flags from states nationwide, including the Virgin Islands and the Bahamas. The video melds both choreographed movement and music, as the sound of the Spartans weaves in and out of the mix alongside the track.

Director Filip Nilsson reveals, “I came across a clip of this marching band from Norfolk in Virgina over a year ago. I immediately knew that these guys had something special and that wanted to make a music video with them one day. Months passed and then suddenly the Heavy Metal track by Justice came my way. We contacted the the marching band leader, William Beathea, and it felt like we all knew at that point that we had to make this work. I wanted his marching band of 220 people to play the track as well as create a customised choreography. We knew it would be far from easy to pull it off. After months of preparation and schedule changes due to the hurricane season, myself and DP Steve Annis finally had five days of full rehearsals with the marching band before we starting shooting. It was a very strong and emotional experience working with these musicians and dancers.”

The music from Woman Worldwide rapidly expanded beyond the scope of the album. The WWW versions of “Genesis” and “Heavy Metal” appeared in a global Nike Phantom ad campaign, which can be viewed here. Additionally the new version of “Chorus” came alive in the VR experience Chorus VR, developed in partnership with WITHIN, which premiered earlier this year at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Most recently Justice shared an otherworldly and brutal video for the WWW version of “Love SOS” directed by Edouard Salier (who previously directed the duo’s “Civilization” and Massive Attack ’s “Atlas Air”).
