Dropkick Murphys präsentieren das Intro aus dem kommenden neuen Album “This Machine Still Kills Fascists”, welches am 30. September (digital/CD – Vinyl im November) über Dummy Luck Music / [PIAS] erscheinen wird!
Die erste Single „Two 6’s Upside Down“ ist ein verzweifeltes Klagelied eines Spielsüchtigen, das von Liebe und Verlust handelt, aber auch Mord und die Konsequenzen zum Thema macht. “I laid him low with my old .44 And the judge give me 99 / The jury said “you’ll have to pay” The clerk, he looked around / The mean old judge, he spoke my number, Lord Two 6’s upside down”.
Auf “This Machine Still Kills Fascists“ schenken Dropkick Murphys den Texten des amerikanischen Musikers Woody Guthrie aus den 40er und 50er Jahren ein neues Leben, und verpacken dessen politische und gesellschaftskritische Statements in ein ebenfalls neues musikalisches Gewand: komplett akustisch und ohne jegliche Verstärker. „‚Two 6’s Upside Down‘ is acoustic, but it’s still tough”, ergänzt Ken Casey, der sich im Video mit der Band vor der Woody-Guthrie-Statue in Oklahoma versammelt. “It’s edgy and these lyrics are menacing. We just wanted to show right out of the gate that even though this album is acoustic, it’s still going to have some fire.”
