Adam Green ist ein künstlerisches Universalgenie: Songwriter, Filmemacher, visueller Künstler und Poet. Ende der Neunziger war er mit The Moldy Peaches Teil der New Yorker Downtown Antifolk-Szene, später erfolgreicher Solokünstler mit Kult-Hits.Jetzt kündigte Adam Green sein mittlerweile zehntes Studioalbum „Engine of Paradise“ für den 06. September 2019 via 30th Century Records / AWAL an – und das ist eine echte „Return To Form“.
Aufgenommen in Brooklyn, New York mit Loren Humphrey re-interpretiert Green darauf den barocken, orchestralen Stil seiner 2000er Ära – inklusive Features mit James Richardson (MGMT), Florence Welch (Florence and the Machine) und Jonathan Rado (Foxygen). Das charmante Video zur ersten Single „Freeze My Love“ gibt es ab sofort hier zu sehen.
Über „Freeze My Love“ sagt Adam Green:
„Freeze My Love“ is like a road-trip song where your Corvette is a JPG filled with flesh cruising towards a blockchain horizon. I think it’s a pretty song, I wish there was a radio station that played it continuously.“
Die Idee hinter dem Video erklärt Green wie folgt:
„I filmed this video while constructing a huge papier mache „Pizza Beach“ installation for The Museum of Pizza in Brooklyn. A lot of the statues we built are characters from my upcoming Graphic Novel „War and Paradise“ – the Rabbi of Regular Town and the bathers that purify their souls in sex-therapy sessions on the beaches of paradise. You’ll also see in the video I had a superb crew of friends helping me with the artwork, all NY stars in their own right! Thanks to Erin Axtell, Marcel Castenmiller, Michael Cummings, Matthew Hitt, Joshua Hubbard, and Jesse Kotansky for their assistance. Doing stuff like this is the meaning of life for me!“
Nachdem Adam Green bereits 2005 seinen zweisprachigen Gedichtband „Magazine“ im Suhrkamp Verlag veröffentlichte, erscheint zeitgleich zur Albumveröffentlichung von „Engine of Paradise“ am 06. September 2019 sein neuestes Buch, die Graphic Novel, „War and Paradise“.
