Nick Cave und Warren Ellis kehrten im vergangenen Jahr für 16 Konzerte in ihre Heimat Australien zurück und brachten ihr gefeiertes Album „Carnage“ aus dem Jahr 2021 sowie Songs aus dem Katalog von Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds mit auf Tour.
Drei Auftritte im Opernhaus von Sydney am 16., 17. und 18. Dezember waren der Höhepunkt einer emotionalen Reise, die auf dem neuen Live-Album „Australian Carnage – Live At The Sydney Opera House“ festgehalten wurde. Das Album wird diesen Freitag, den 25. August, auf digitalen und Streaming-Diensten veröffentlicht, eine 8-Track-Vinyl folgt am 1. Dezember auf Goliath Records. Die heutige Ankündigung wird begleitet von der Streaming-Veröffentlichung von ‚Balcony Man‘, das ab sofort angehört werden kann. Das Album kann ab sofort vorbestellt werden.

Zusammen mit Colin Greenwood von Radiohead und Larry Mullins von Bad Seed sowie den Backgroundsängern Wendi Rose, Janet Ramus und T Jae Cole traten Cave und Ellis vor einem begeisterten Publikum mit Intensität und Humor auf. Zu den Höhepunkten gehörten das zarte „Bright Horses“, das spirituelle „Carnage“ und das mitreißende „White Elephant“ sowie die sehnsuchtsvollen „Waiting For You“ und „I Need You“.

Ellis ist zwar ein langjähriges Mitglied der Bad Seeds, und er und Cave haben bereits an vielen anderen Projekten zusammengearbeitet, aber dies war das erste Mal, dass die beiden als Duo durch Australien tourten.
Ihre kreative Chemie ist in ihrer langen Geschichte des Musikmachens verwurzelt, sowohl als Kollaborateure als auch als individuelle Künstler. Ihre Wege kreuzten sich zum ersten Mal 1993, als Ellis bei einigen Songs des Albums Let Love In von Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds die Geige spielte, bevor er als festes Mitglied in die Band einstieg. Die beiden haben auch als Grinderman, gegründet 2006, Aufnahmen gemacht und zahlreiche Film-, Fernseh- und Theatersoundtracks gemeinsam komponiert und aufgenommen.
