Wir präsentieren heute die neue Videosingle „Galactic“ von The Jackson Pollock, einem Duo aus Bologna, bestehend aus Emily (Schlagzeug, Gesang) und Davide (Gitarre, Effekte). Sie sind bekannt für ihre explosiven Live-Auftritte und unkonventionellen Klangwelten.
Emily schreibt: For years I was “collecting stars”, I mean, I was kind of fixated on them, hoping to squeeze some luck out of them. So whenever I saw little stars or space-themed art, I’d take out my phone. Scrolling through those clips later, I thought I might use them for a music video, and we just happened to have a galactic song …
So this video is about a space journey, an adventurous trip across the galaxy that will lead us where you least expect it.
We’re both fans of Star Trek, especially of the first season. We love the sense of universal respect and care in the show, and we also love its lo-fi vibe: if a dictaphone microphone can be a high-tech scanner, then cardboard and aluminum foil can become a robot costume too! We had a lot of fun DIY-ing it and letting our inner child run free, playing a kind of secret game where any little thing could have a quirky magical power.
It may not be a high-end production, and we’re on too tight a budget to rent a space shuttle. We could have shot much more, but our song is too short for a convoluted storyline—and besides, we don’t like the idea of waking up in the morning, putting on the coffee, and waiting for the song to start! A common theme in our work is that everything flows naturally: combining unrelated elements, coming up with ideas on the fly. We let our imagination run wild, hoping it might be contagious.
