Am 28.02.2020 erscheint das neue, sechste Studioalbum „Torche//Flame“ von Johnossi (BMG / ADA). Nach der ersten Single „Longer The Wait, Harder The Fall“ und dem zweiten Vorgeschmack „CCCcowboys“ veröffentlicht das schwedische Duo heute mit „Echoes“ ihre neue Single inkl. Video. Im Musikvideo – geschnitten von John und seiner Frau Nathalie – werden ausschließlich Ausschnitte aus dem 1968er Kult-Horrorfilm „Die Nacht der lebenden Toten“ von George A. Romero verwendet.
Weiter erklären Johnossi zum Video:
„We had this idea of a video that felt haunting, psychological and a bit psychedelic too. Being a fan of black and white 60’s horror films for a long time, Nathalie had wanted to do something with the material from ‚Night of The Living Dead‘ for a while. When she heard ’Echoes‘ she instantly felt that the two would fit well together. By using handpicked scenes from the film and adding a few very simple (crappy) effects we started building our own storyline. A psyche within the film. It was remarkable how the original editing of the film synched so well with the rhythm and pulse of the track.“
Sänger und Gitarrist John Engelbert erklärt zum Song:
„A song about being driven by ego and the shame and darkness that comes with being a destructive individual. This was the first song we wrote for the album and it set the tone“
